Automatic meter reading based on infrared

Background

The client is a electric power company in Southeast Asia. In the past, manual meter reading was inefficient and disturbing to residents. Paper records are not easy to keep and inconvenient to query.

Solution

Each meter is equipped with an infrared transceiver. The infrared device of the V8 handheld terminal sends an infrared signal to the infrared transceiver of the meter, instructing the transceiver to transmit its consumption, diagnostic and status data to the central database for billing and analysis under wireless connection. In this way, automatic meter reading is realized.
