Background
The client is a European hospital that previously adopted decentralized asset management, and each department that received the equipment was responsible for maintenance alone. Management hopes to unify management to ensure that key medical equipment is properly maintained and available at any time, reduce misuse and theft of expensive medical equipment, and save management and maintenance costs.
Solution
We provided the client with handheld terminals, which obtains all medical equipment data from the hospital's current information system. Each device is equipped with a unique barcode ID badge, which carries all information such as purchase date, maintenance date, custodian, department, etc. Managers only need to scan the device barcode to track the details of the device.
Before the relevant department receives the equipment, the security guard scans the device ID badge affixed to the device, and the back-end system can assign the device to the relevant department.
When the department returns the tool, the security guard first scans his own ID badge. All tools and equipment registered in his/her name will be listed on the handheld device. Then the security guard scans the barcode label of the tool. After scanning, the tool will be automatically deleted from the list.
Effect
1. Simplified the equipment and tool management process.
2. Avoid human errors such as using the wrong equipment and losing tools in emergency situations.
3. Real-time device data transmission between handheld computers and backend databases makes data viewing and management faster and more convenient.
4. Save management and maintenance costs and improve the efficiency of expensive medical equipment.
